Fellowship Application
The Surgical Critical Care Program in Department of Surgery at the University of Louisville participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) developed by the Association of American Medical Colleges in the recruitment of all extramural fellows.
Candidates are required to have completed 5-years of General Surgery training in an ACGME accredited program, and must be American Board of Surgery eligible.
Completed applications are reviewed by the Surgical Critical Care Program Director and applicants are selected to interview based on their accomplishments.
Several interview days are held each year in the late summer / early fall. Fellowship candidates are interviewed by various trauma/critical care faculty members in one-on-one interviews.
A ranking meeting is held each September. Each applicant’s folder is thoroughly reviewed and discussed by the faculty. Applicants are ranked in the order agreed upon by the faculty. After the rank order list is generated, it is entered electronically and submitted to the NRMP by the October deadline.
Eligible candidates who wish to be considered for a position are asked to forward the following documentation, in addition to completing the common application (see link below):
•Current Curriculum Vitae
•3 Letters of Recommendation
